The Pro Street Story
An Introduction
The firm Pro Street is headed by Ger Dijkshoorn. It first started in 1978 in the town of Utrecht in Holland under the name 'Harley-Davidson Service Center G. Dijkshoorn'.
In 1984, next to the sales and services of HD motorcycles, the fabrication of HD related products was started, such as frames and other articles under the name 'Custom Cycle Products'. This line of articles is still being sold via the mother company and different HD-dealers.1990 saw the light of a new product line under the name of Pro Street. The idea was to produce a line of articles with which every mechanic would be able to built a motorcycle relatively easy, without complications and by using only simple tools.
All the parts had to fit all models and it had to be possible to fit a wide rear tire (up to 190 wide). A rubber-mount construction was chosen because of the excellent durability and comfort.
Because of the easy availability of these parts and the thought-through construction, we chose to use as many standard parts of the original Harley-Davidson FXR models as possible. An added advantage was that a lot of Pro Street parts are also usable on original FXR models. The Pro Street FXR frame
Developing the first model of the Pro Street frame, we combined the bottom of an original FXR frame -and for looks- the top part of a Softail frame. This way we got the best of both worlds: the road-handling and comfort of a FXR and the traditional 'custom- look' of the Softail. All Pro Street parts (the frames also) are numerical produced utilizing the best materials, that way eliminating discrepancies.Of these first model Pro Street frames, approximately 2500 have been sold worldwide and are still being ridden to the full satisfaction of their owners.
The Pro Street FLT frame
When the new HD models with the oiltank underneath the gearbox were introduced, there came a demand for after-market frames for these models.
Because the customizer doesn't have enough possibilities with the original frames, it was decided to create a new series of frames along the proven Pro Street method, that would satisfy these customisers. After an extensive period of testing, in the spring of 1998 we started with the production of a replacement frame for the latest series of FLT models. These frames are not much different from the Pro Street frames for the FXR models, apart from the fact that the frame at the rear/bottom has a bit more room for the oiltank underneath the gearbox and the seat position is lower (deep-seat).
All parts from the Pro Street FXR frame also fit in and on this model frame. The only difference with the earlier frame is that a Pro Street batterybox and bracket have to be mounted in the spot were the oiltank with battery used to be.
Ride a fast, safe and comfortable motorcycle, ride a Pro Street.
